As a result of our 21st Century Children Project, Hands On! International developed Home of 21st Century Education quality certificate to assist museums and related institutions in the process of transforming themselves into forward-looking cultural and learning venues for children and families.
To this end, eight quality standards were established as criteria, which are described and presented in more details in the following 3 publications. Part 1 describes the visions and basic considerations that led us to develop the label of quality. Part 2 analyses status quo of museums and museum-like institutions as “Houses of learning” for children. Part 3 provides guidlines for everyone interested in starting, running or enhancing an organization dedicated to children-focused museum work.
